About

Hello, my name is Melissa Dunworth. I am a middle school teacher in Western Washington. I teach 7th grade English Language Arts, CTE Textile Arts for 7th and 8th grades, as well as CTE Marketing for 7th and 8th grades. I am currently entering my 4th year of teaching. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History/Social Sciences from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA and a Master’s in Teaching from St. Martin’s University, Lacey, WA.

Before entering the field of education, I worked in marketing in the medical device field and I am also a small business owner specializing in long arm quilting and quilt pattern design. My patterns have been featured in Generation Q Magazine, Make Modern Magazine, Modern Quilts Unlimited and American Patchwork & Quilting.

In addition to teaching, I have spent time on the Character Strong implementation team in my district and I am currently on the restorative justice team. Having a diverse background has made me passionate about the application of technology in education. I am Google Educator certified and I have been working towards becoming a Google Educator Trainer. I am currently pursing a second masters degree and doctorate from Seattle Pacific University in the Digital Education Leadership program.
